Since opening on October 10, 1973, Busan Citizen Hall began as the one and only art hall symbolizing Busan, an international maritime city, to settle as an open cultural space with grand and small theaters, exhibition halls, and rehearsal room for the artists’ creative activities. We have earned the love and support of many local people by providing the artists and local people with opportunities for various artistic activities and spaces for public education.

Along with the renovation, repair, and expansion that started on June 7, 2001, we finished a year of construction to replace the equipment with the latest facilities and reopened on July 5, 2002 for the development of Busan’s culture and arts as an international city of culture. For better operation and management, the Facility Management Corporation has been consigned for operation since July 1, 2004. To provide more pleasant cultural spaces, we replaced all audience seats and floors in the grand theater and remodeled the exhibition hall from July 2009. We also opened an art shop that permanently exhibits and sells artistic creations to support the community culture.
